Happy Third Trimester!

It's here! It's here! This is a day I thought would never come and it's already here! Oh man. I have so much left to do... I still have to sign up for Lamaze classes, finish the nursery, get a few other supplies (pack-n-play, stroller, high chair, etc), and get all my maternity leave worked out. I better get busy! Plus, I have all kinds of little sewing projects I want to finish up for my little man.

The nursery is really starting to look great though. Tim has been working really hard. He painted my clouds this weekend! Don't they look sweet?!? He is working on the white shelf to go all the way around the room next. And I'm working on curtains and a cushion for the top of the toy box. I just finished the dresser, lining the shelves with cute striped paper and putting in all the newborn things. And I finished stitching together this funky log pillow for our western themed nursery... Also, I need to take a picture of the little mobile I jazzed up. (I bought a mobile on sale and just changed the dangling fish to tiny horses with little blue bows around their necks. It turned out cute and very "western.") So, the nursery is getting there.

In other news, a really sweet mom at the library just gave me her old bassinet! She is also going to give me their old baby monitor, too. How nice, huh? There are some really incredible moms at my library. I've already gotten some cute baby clothes and some really nice toys, as well. This is one lucky kid.

Anyway, tonight is a celebration. The mister is taking me out to celebrate this landmark day. Happy third trimester!!!

Happy Week 27!

Third trimester, here I come. You're only one week away. Oh yeah. And look at me! I'm bare-foot and pregnant! Just look at how much bigger my baby bump has gotten. I think I've doubled in size in the past three weeks. Now there is no room for doubt as to whether I'm pregnant or if I have a massive beer belly. (In case you're wondering, beer belly is NOT what I'm aiming for...)

As for the backdrop to this big momma picture, we're in Maine! This is probably the last vacation by ourselves before our little man comes. It's also in celebration of our 9th anniversary. This is at Orchard Beach in southern Maine. We've had a great time up here, frolicking in the scenery and outlet shopping for our little boy! We've been to the Carter's outlet, the Hanna Anderson outlet, Children's Place, Gap Baby, Old Navy, and a ton of adorable toy stores. (And yes, we've spent too much.) But I've gotten the cutest things for our little fella! And not just clothes - I've also gotten some cool vintage cowboy stuff for the nursery and some awesome Haba toys (I LOVE that brand). Basically, we are gonna have a well dressed and smart kid with a seriously cool room.

As far as how Jellybean is, he is good. He is kicking up a storm! And it makes me have to pee ALL the time. So, as far as sightseeing up here goes, I'm looking at the sights but also scoping out for the WC... I hope I'm not driving my hubby crazy with that. And my feet are kinda swollen, like almost all the time. My little guy is sure making his presence known. But we are having a great time and it is pretty cool that my little man is with me, enjoying Maine in utero. Stay tuned for more pictures...

A Baby Shower!!!

Wow! My friend Emily is gonna have a baby shower for me! How cool is she?!? And she even timed it for when my mom and sister will be in town. I got the invite in the mail today and I am so excited! (Isn't the invite adorable? Definitely one for the scrapbook...) I LOVE baby showers and I can't believe I'm gonna be the "showered" person! I'm seriously lucky to have such a thoughtful friend.

Week 24

Here we are at the 24 week point. I had a doctor visit today and all is well. I got to hear his little heartbeat as usual, which always makes me happy. But I also had to step on that horrible weight scale, which never makes me happy. I understand that the baby weight gain is a necessity, but it sure does make me feel gross. Well, whatever. At least my doctor hasn't said that I'm gaining too much. That would suck. And at least my baby is healthy and growing. I can tolerate my weight gain for my little fella. (I just wish that I didn't have "wings" and a "muffin top" to show as well as a pregnant belly...)

Pregnancy Weekly says: "Your baby weighs in at 1 pound, 6 ounces, and measures 21 centimeters. He's getting bigger by the day, but he still needs to cook in there a while longer!" Now, how have I gained so much and he is still only less than 2 pounds?!? How can this be? It also says that, "His lungs have started secreting surfactant, the substance that keeps the moist, interior surface of the lungs from sticking together; and he is practicing breathing. Your baby's eyes are also watching for light and its ears are listening to your heart beat and your stomach growl." That's pretty cool.

Finally, I want to note, as far as doctor visits go that Tim has taken me to every single one. I think that really says something about who he is and what kind of daddy he'll be. So basically, little Jellybean has a big fat momma and a very loyal daddy!

The Coolest

Well, little guy, this one's from dad...you don't know this yet, but your mom is the coolest. She just finished the crazy huge project for the summer reading program at her library for this year and it's the best one yet. You are really going to covered in books, but don't worry we won't expect you to be reading Dostoevsky until your ten, so you have a few years to work up to it. Like I was saying, your mom is the best children's librarian this side of the Mississippi! Take a look at all the programs and fun activities she has planned for the kids at Eastchester Public Library. There is a huge brochure with all of the events, a reading game, a whole program for kids who haven't learned to read yet (you're a little young for it, but you still fit in this category), booklists for every grade, an entire book list all about bugs and even a contest to make the coolest "Catch the Reading Bug" bookmark.
One thing you'll learn about your mom is that when she does something, she goes all out. Just wait until Halloween, you'll only be a month old, but you'll have the best costume in town. I mention all of this to say that if your mom will go to all of this work to help kids read that aren't even her own kids, just imagine all the time and effort she will put in to help you develop and become a reading pro. I can't wait to see the two of you sitting in the rocking chair reading books and singing songs together...yep, she's pretty cool. You're a lucky guy to have a mom like her.
